Currently I am a student at Wesleyan and am considering transferring to McGill University. However I am very worried about the stigma associated with Canadian Universities--namely that they are not as prestigious as American Universities and can hinder future job opportunities. Can anyone please offer some advice? Is it better for me in the long run to stay at Wes? Is McGill on par with Wes?

YOu should go to Mcgill. At any University they have haeard of Mcgill and know of its prestige. You should def transfer if you want u intend on going to grad school.

McGill is cheaper... Wesleyan has an actual campus and an environment. I'd say they're similar prestige-wise.

Similar in terms of prestige, with probably a slight advantage to Wesleyan.

Why do you want to transfer?

The thing with Mcgill is that it has no sense of campus community (I think 80% live off campus), has very large classes in comparison to Wes, and has high academic standards for admissions but doesn't care at all about personality/activities and such... it's completely numbers-based.

I want to transfer because I am an international student and prefer to live in a a city similar to that of a European city. I feel that although Wesleyan is wonderful in terms of class size and student/faculty ration, Wes is very much a bubble in terms of the fact that there is a clear segragation between the campus and Middletown.

I am entertaining the idea that since I am indecisive, I might take a non-academic leave of abscence for the fall term (cause the deadline's passed) and a academic leave of abscence in the spring term so I can try out McGill for a year.
