Hello, I am a current junior in high school with a current GPA of 3.1, a lot had happened my first to years of high school in my personal life that had screwed up my grades. I know for sure that this GPA doesn’t reflect my abilities to learn, research, study and everything in between. I wanted to ask this community of people that seem to know so much that I’m willing to take in. My grades my junior year have greatly increased, I’m taking honors classes, planning on taking all honors and AP my senior year, I scored low my first ACT test I got a 22 but I have plans to retake and I know for sure I can get better because my Pre-ACT was a 28 and I wanted to know if I get my GPA to a cumulative of a 3.3 and a 28 on my ACT what are my chances of Pitt-Greensburg? But if not what are my chances now of getting in, with the current scores?
I would also like to add I’m in state and that I’ve gotten honor roll every year of high school. Have worked two jobs and tutored classes. I’ve played track 3 gonna go to 4 years and football 1 year. Been a part of German club, done volunteer work, and built strong relations with teachers so I have letters of recommendations.
@jmeZnar I think you have a very good chance of being accepted at Pitt Greensburg if you can get your GPA up to a 3.3, even if you don’t improve your ACT. Even with a 3.1, you probably have a fairly good chance. Pitt Greensburg isn’t nearly as selective as Pitt main campus. Do you know what major you’d be applying for? Nursing school admissions require a minimum of 3.2 GPA and 23 ACT (or 1170 SAT).
I would be applying for studies in biology
I think you will be admitted, but of course I don’t know for sure. Just do your best for the rest of this school year, retake the ACT after studying for it, preferably in June or Sept. (and/or study and try the SAT), and apply early in your senior year.
From the looks of it, you have a pretty decent chance as long as you achieve the gpa and act score that you proposed
@jpfitz630 and @kidzncatz thank you so much for ur help kinda just been freaking out lately about college I just really want to get in I even emailed their admissions counselor and she said yeah I’d pretty much be admitted into their college for sure and I’m even eligible for a scholarship with my ACT which surprised me idk y I’m freaking out when I’ve been told I will be admitted but thank u two so much for the reassurance
I think Pitt does look at whether your GPA has an upwards trend, so that will help a lot! Good luck with the ACT retake.
@scholarme thanks I will try my best
