Chances OOS

I plan to apply by the second week of the September and have everything in:
What are my chances:

From Nevada

UM GPA: 4.0
Class Rank: =1 out of about 650
9 AP Classes by end of Senior Year
Most Rigorous Schedule

ACT: 31

ECs:
National Honor Society President
FBLA President
Captain Varsity Basketball
DECA President
Part time job as a referee

Awards:
Great Service Award (100+ hours in community)
Scholar Athlete
AP Scholar
NHS President's Award
Boys' State Delegate
RYLA Attendee

Applying to LSA

I think you'll be accepted. You never know for sure (for me, umich admissions is wierd), but the fact that you have a 4.0, good ACT scores plus the fact that you are applying early will most likely get you an acceptance letter. All those EC's and awards will only help.

Bump it up

Prob be accepted into the Honors program.

i think you're in for sure, maybe with money.

Do you think I should wait until I get my ACT score up to a 33+ (I think I can do this) to apply or just apply right now? Will waiting hurt my chances of acceptance, or am I good to go?

your GPA and ECs are much better than mine, but I had a strong SAT score. I applied in december and was accepted in 2 weeks...so waiting in your case couldn't hurt, but why not apply now? I think you're as good as in.

Just send your app in now. It's not certain that you'll score 33+, so there's no use in waiting. You're fine.

Thanks for the input. How much better is the honors program and what are my chanes of getting into that?

Mjn, you are most likely in. Apply as soon as possible and do not worry about your ACT. That is not to say you should not retake it, because as it is, although you are most likely getting in (most likely in the honors program), chances are you won't get much in way of merit aid. If you can raise your ACT to say 34, I'd say your chances for some money improve drastically.

The honors program is very good, but it isn't better or worse than the rest of the university...it is just different.

could i get money for having a 33 on the ACT?

Could and would are different words. Sure you could. But will you? Who knows? I have known valedictorians with straight As, a slew of AP classes and a 1500+/34+ who didn't get a penny from Michigan.
