yes, i kno bio/premed is "in" now, but that is not why I am thinking about traveling that road. Instead, i find bio exciting and extremely interesting. A lot of times I try hard and work hard, my teachers recognize my hard work, my only concern is that my grades/ SAT I may not reflect my true potential when admissions officer look at them.

I am azn junior at public school (CA) top 100 (according to newsweek).

Tough Courses (done/in progress):precalc H, calc AB AP, chem H, Bio AP, US history AP.

GPA: 3.7u/w 3.95W
SAT I: 1950 gross retake in June hopefully 2100+
SATII: chinese 760, math IIC 740, Bio M took in May (730ish?)
Senior yr will spend all yr at community college for a special program (took 3 ppl from my school)

california scholarship federation (9-11) VP
japanese honor society(10-11) (vp, maybe co pres next yr)
student govt (11) only 60ish ppl in it (ASB, class officers, commissioners)
youth symphony (10-11) violin II to Violin I tour this summer
vlntring (200 hours)
badminton doubles 1 (9-10)
awards from teachers b/c of the effort/curiosity/passion for bio (only person to receive from that teacher..out of 100+ students)
unfortunately i did not get into COSMOS..so summer=taking classes at community college.

I will work extremely hard on my essay b/c i truly have a passion for bio and helping others thru vlntring with children w/ disabilities. i will ask my bio AP and APush to help me on recs. I think the bio one will be my strongest rec. I really do try hard, and its sumtimes frustrating that others succeed when they dont care as much or not put in as much effort as me.

oops i didn't finish. yeh so for like cosmos, a competative summer program, even tho i hav the passion for bio, i think my grades didn't cut it...i had 2 Cs in math so far the only Cs cus i suck at math. What colleges/university will fit me..if i want to go to a place with some recognition?

i'm looking into brown, jhu, nothwestern, UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD

any suggestions will be appreciated thanks!

I realize that you have a strong passion for bio, but a lot of people, too many to count, are JUST LIKE YOU. They don't do it because it's "in" why the heck would you do that? It's your major!

I have to say that for brown and jhu, those are far reaches.
UCB/UCLA- you are in state, but these still might be a little tough.

You also have nothing that really stands-out from the "pack," with the GPA and SAT scores a little lower than the others. Get that SAT up as you stated.

"I really do try hard, and its sumtimes frustrating that others succeed when they dont care as much or not put in as much effort as me."

One quick advice, don't get frustrated over these kind of things. You're going to see it happen A LOT throughout h.s. and even college. Some people don't need so much work to understand the material, and that's not really a fault.

Your SAT II scores are good, and that will help at UCs. But with the overall stats now, I don't you're looking at Cal, LA or SD in bio. GPA is below overall averge for those schools and well below for bio related majors.

You should have a fair to good shot at the other UCs, especially with a high SAT I.

All this assumes you are top 10% of your class.

If a lower UC isn't going to make you happy, make sure to put some good privates on your list that are not as tough as Brown and JHU.

hey guys, thanks for the feedback. If i do not "stand out" too much, what can i do to change my current situation? can standing out e in your essay and recs (the most likely way for me). or does it have to be like something else? Oh and i thot the UCs count weighted gpa so if i am a 3.95 and ucla is like a 4.1 is that too much of a differerence? my school is insanely tough and students are really hardwroking so teachers up the standards...therefore great grades are hard to get. I know places like Brown are probably far up there for me, but I would love to go there. Any suggestions to up my profile?

hey, you can't really do much now. all you can do is write a kick ass essay. write the best one and u should be in. u just barely missed UCLA. but yur sat II scores are pretty good. also raise SAT I
