Let me know what you think…Thanks for everything!!

my eyes need medication after that post. well, your chances are decent. Why is your SAT II US History so low when you got a 5 on the AP exam, and the vast majority of your EC's are politics/government oriented? That's a very significant disparity between your tested level of achievement and your commitment to your EC's. Are you retaking your SAT II's in January? If so, I would definitely retake history...retake all of them, actually. Pop on over to the RD stats thread and you'll see that so far, not a single person has posted a total of less than 2000 for their SAT II scores. Scores aren't everything, but they do have some significance.

Oh, and you might want to reconsider the format for your activity sheet. A lot of the stuff was repetitive...put all the awards that you received for a specific activity in one place, or something like that.

I can't read all of that, but get those scores up if you can, they matter. What is your intended major, political science? If you look at the 'Roster', you can get a feel for what your chances are.

Rebellion and Comformity Honors? XD That cracks me up (not the fact that you took it, but the class name itself. ^^).
I don't think I'm qualified to tell you anything about your chances...being that I'm only a junior in high school, but here's what I think:
-Your grades/testing are good, but not stellar. You seem to excel in language arts, history, leadership, government...that sort of thing. You're very well focused in that area, and that might be able to get you in. In other words, the best of luck to you, and I think you have a chance. :)

sorry about the long list...asterstar: im not retaking the sat IIs and the only disparity i can see is the AP History test and the SAT IIs History... other than that I only excel in Government/Politics stuff which is my intended major.. does that help? and for the activity sheet what do you mean by put all the awards for on specific activity in one place? i didnt think the ECs were repitive its just alot of my leadership positions are on a national level and state level as well thanks for all of your help! let me know what you think
thethoughtprocess: yeah poly sci is my intended major.. whats the roster?
thechiiguin: thanks for your help!

looking again at your activities sheet...I shouldn't have said that it's repetitive. But you should format it so that the accomplishments and awards that you're most proud of are most evident. Right now, it's just this huge list of positions and awards, and there's no real way to determine which activities were the most significant to you. It's not a big deal tho, as long as you don't frustrate the adcom with a confusing format or anything.

And I still feel that the 580 US History is important. If it weren't so closely related to your intended major, it wouldn't really matter. As an applicant, you're trying to create the impression that you fill some sort of niche, and you do with your gov't/politics EC's, but the test score is one weakness....however, Brown does accept ppl whose test scores are slightly lower than normal. good luck!

yeah i know that 580 is my downfall... i guess thats what i get for not studying...thanks for everything!

haha i was the 2000. didn't prep for sat II's at all

SAT Score: 1590
GPA: 4.9

Advanced Placement United States History
Advanced Placement Statistics
Advanced Placement Psychology
Advanced Placement Government & Politics
Advanced Placement Biology

280 Hours of Community Service
15 Clubs
President- Interact Club

15 clubs? Unless you have significant involvement and achievements in every single one of them, I wouldn't even put down that you're in that many clubs. It'll look like you've been resume-padding.

btw, I think there's a Chances forum for these posts...
