Chances Please

I'll try to be breif.

I screwed off my first two years in high school and got a 2.96 both years, that summer going into my junior year i realized the mistake i made and tried to turn it around. My junior year i had a 4.15 GPA and got involved with Recycling, Volunteering at local hospitals etc..

Now it's my senior year and here are my stats.

White Male

GPA: 3.34, will be 3.45 after first semester.

SAT: 560(W) 630(M) 530(CR)
ACT: 27(M) 22(E) 25(composite).

I've taken AP US history, and am currently taking AP CALC, AP Econ.

I go to a very challenging private high school (we don't do class rank).

Now i'm wondering what my chances are for Vanderbilt IF i raise my test scores up to a 700 in each subject on the SAT.

I know my GPA is horrible, i'm hoping that the Admissions team will see the huge jump, but it still might be to late.

What do yall think?

Also, if i'm "screwed" what about transfering from somewhere like furman or rhodes?

Your GPA is probably still going to hurt you.

And I have trouble believing that you really could raise your scores that much (380 points is a lot).

If you do well 1st sem senior year, then admissions people may be inclined to overlook bad grades in fresh/soph. Maybe talk about your turnaround in your essays, for emphasis. If you can get your SATs up (to the 2000 range or so), I'd say you have a decent shot.
