<p>I know my stats are just average but I was hoping since Rice uses more holistic approach i would have a better chance =/ Anyone want to chance? pleasee =]</p>
<p>Sure you have a chance, but so do a lot of other folks.</p>
<p>IMO, if you want to get the "edge" over everybody else there are a couple of things so should do for sure:</p>
<ol>
<li> Get an interview with a Rice alumni</li>
<li> Do the very best you can on the essay. Rice places a lot of value in this and it must be your own work, from the heart and tell about you and your dreams. Avoid letting other people help you with it other than spelling and major errors, so that the content and style is entirely yours. Colleges now know the difference.</li>
</ol>
<p>Things that may or may not help you that you have no control over</p>
<ol>
<li> Geographic area that you live. If lots of other people apply from your same area (state, school...etc) then your chances are less.</li>
<li> Gender and Ethnic.</li>
<li> Just plain luck.</li>
