Chances plz RD

im international from S. Korea, i've been going to high school in US for about 3 years.
My gpa is 3.93, class rank 2/27, no AP(our school doesnt offer)
in SAT on dec 2nd im expecting about 600V 800M 650W

May V500 M760 W580(essay 9)
Oct V570 M800 W530(essay 5)
Nov Math790 Chem640 Bio550
Toefl 105 (highest score out of 2)
played 3 sports for one year but not since i transferred.
participated Leadership and mentorship programs
in book club, drama club, key club(president)

so how much chance do i have?
Also how much chance do i have in university of north Carolina and college of william and mary, if anyone knows..

oos and the grade is unweighted

id say its a pretty big reach. oos is disgustingly harder. i think in state youd be a slight reach still

is it that bad?
yeah my scores in english and SAT2 were bad
well but still worth trying, right?

if you're applying to SEAS, i'd say you have a good chance (for being OOS)...you're rank is impressive, you're GPA is pretty good, and although your verbal score is low (bottem 25%)...take the SAT again, definently, or atleast tak e the SATII for it

but definently appply!

i think you have a much better chance than they are saying, youre an international student - of course your writing and verbal scores will be low, all your math scores are stellar though, if youre applying to SEAS, then i think youre fine right now but if you want Arts and Sciences i suggest trying at least one more time to raise your verbal and writing scores

well i took on this december, i dont know if u read my expected scores
but its really hard to raise english scores :(
also i thought they accept January test only if it is SAT2

thank you all
any other comment or opinion?

don't take the SAT again like whoever that was suggested. A student at UVA told me after 3 tries, they start averaging your scores. (I'm applying for Fall 2007 too). But yeah, out of state is definitely harder, but you still have a shot. I'm assuming you will do something involving math/science...think of what you have done involving math/science, and emphasize that through your essays. Focus on your good skills, and sell yourself basically.

2PInZ thanks for advice
i was not gonna take SAT again cuz it will be 4th try and its way to much
actually i was gonna write a essay about my life in US and what i learned from here and how it motivated me to go to college here
cuz it will be something special and different from everyone(not maybe for other intls, but)
im thinking about biology, chemistry, or biochem for major

maybe i was mistaken. at a lot of schools, international students have an even more rigorous application process although from other posters it sounds as if UVA is not like that. if it isnt more rigorous then sure youve got a shot. but dont take our word for anything ;)

peoples whose opinions matter the most: uva>u>us

yeah thats true
no matter wut we say in here, if its different than UVA's opinion,
its nothing...
im just trying to get an idea thou

they should give you some leeway on your English cuz your from another country, rite?

Don't worry so much about the verbal. It may be in the lower quartile, but someone has to be there. A lot of those someones are international students whose first or even second language isn't English. The admissions office will understand. Also, your math score far exceeds the vast majority of UVA.

haha both joe5333 and sv3a thanks im little more relieved
