Chances & Region??

I'm an Asian female at a public school in Virginia. It's not a huge city; not that many people have even heard of it. Few-and really, really, few-get into Ivy League/other top-ranking schools (I don't think anybody got in last year or the year before...) I know region matters, but does me being Asian counter the fact that I'm from East Coast? CA has a huge Asian population, so does that lower my chances of getting in to Stanford?

Please be brutally honest..I'll really appreciate it!
At times like this I wish I wasn't Asian lol jk..i love being Asian

Your AP’s aren’t very impressive, and you seem to be like any other asian applicant…

Where do you stand out? Grades and GPA are fine.

Do APs hold any relevance on admissions anyway? I mean they are self-reported so they can’t hold much weight, right?

Yeah I know…I was sick during my hist exams but yup, while going through this college process, I really am just a typical Asian.
I like making jingles (rewriting lyrics to well-known tunes) to study, promote events, etc but idk how much colleges appreciate that
Thanks for the reply!

I don’t think AP’s are weighted much in the process, but still, OP has as good a chance as anyone else.

OP, perhaps write an essay about your jingles, and make it stand out?

hmm…essay about jingles…I’ve actually considered that for the roommate essay. I wrote about jingles, rhyming, and music. I wasn’t sure how to make it stand out, so I rhymed the whole thing. Every two lines/phrases rhyme with each other, and it’s about a paragraph so far…kind of like a jingle w/o a tune… ^-^ For example, this is an excerpt from the middle:

I make jingles about anything, for every occasion and need: to study or to promote events or to do a helpful deed.

sort of like that…it it too “out there” to be considered an essay?
Thank you for all the feedback!

It’s good, I like it ^_^!

It may be a little cliche, perhaps?
