I will have excellent essays and rec's and possible alumni/donator connections to the schools i apply to.

I would like to know the best school I have a chance at.
I am most likely going to end up at University of Miami but would like my other options. Thanks a lot to everyone that help.

I am hoping to get into the accelerated Med. Program as i aspire to be a Plastic Surgeon. If not i am unsure of what i will put as my major, but something that has to do with pre-med. If i can i would double major in business and my medical major.

Not to let you down or anything, but the UM program is very hard to get into. I got into a lot of good schools but not into the UM program.
So I'm goin to Hopkins BME. I had a 4.0 and 7.24. 2260/2400 SAT. SAT II: Math 2C-800, BIO M- 720, CHEM-700, USHIST-710. I was at the top 1% of my class with a rank 6/10113 (that the entire county). I don't think you should do UM undergrad. I'm sure that you can get into better undergrad. schools. If you really want to do accel. med. you should try at USF (Tampa). I got into that program but chose not to go. I'm assuming you are from FL, so USF would be decent choice for you if you want to get into medicine fast. I chose JHU because I wanted to get out of FL and b/c JHU BME rocks. (They only take about 100 students - that prestigeous enough for me) I liked the campus and environment better than USF, which is more of a commuter school - since lot of the students come from the surrounding area. So all in all try for JHU, but don't get too fixed on UM. (Which is what I did and was kind of put down at first, but it all worked out for the better). GO BLUE JAYS!

I don't know a whole lot about your school in particular, but you say it is a very a good private school, so I am going to assume that your Bs are considered strong grades compared to your peers. If this is the case, fantastic -- just make sure your counselor notes it in your recommendation.

Your sports are good. I think your ECs that involve medicine (volunteering at the hospital and shadowing the physicians) are a great thing. You should definitely keep up and expand your involvement in those things.

Got turned down from the HPME program. You should still apply to the accel. med programs at UM and other schools, but just rely on just them. I made the mistake of that. Luckily I applied to JHU at the last moment. You should keep your options open and apply to a wide range of schools. I say don't worry about the application fees, unless you really cannot afford it. A couple hundred dollars is worth a good future.

its great to finally see somebody from a private school who isn't taking 20 APs etc. I go to a prep school in Tampa and nobody took more than 3 APs as a junior!

yes i noticed that also, my school wont allow a student to take that many AP's becuase it interefers with social life and my school likes wellrounded kds.. Its not possible to take more than 5 and that is a lot for my school
