Chances for:Rutgers, St. Olaf's University, Case Western University, University of Rochester, University of Chicago, Tufts, Swarthmore, Amherst, Columbia, Harvard, Yale (that's pretty my own estimate of my chances, ordered from sure thing to slim as a thread)

Any help you could give would be SO appreciated

From what I know of these schools...

You'll be in at Rutgers, Case Western, and Rochester.
You're a good match for St. Olaf's, University of Chicago, Tufts, Swarthmore, and Amherst and will probably be accepted to at least some of them.
You've got a shot at Columbia, Harvard, and Yale, but no one can predict admissions at those schools.

Those are my predictions. Try to knock em dead with your essays, as that can be a big help with Ivies. Any idea which school is your first choice?

At the moment my 1st choice (other than the Ivies) is probably Rochester or Chicago. I haven't seen the campuses yet though so that'll probably be a factor in deciding.

for someone with impressive credentials and yet admit that chances at schools like Harvard and Yale are as you say, "slim as a thread", shows a level of maturity that's refreshing :) (you'll know what I mean if you read some of the chances threads here).

I think you're right on with your ranking, and that the first four schools can be considered your safeties. You should definitely apply to those 3 Ivies, and you have a pretty solid shot at the remaining others as well. Just make sure you turn in a kick-rear essay for the U of Chicago. Good luck rolledeyes.

great chances :)

Ivies are always slim as a thread for everyone. unless you're a national superstar in some field. what i'm wondering about most is probably my writing SAT... how much do the high tier schools look at those and is 710 good enough? should I definitely retake or just consider it or not even bother?

I would say let it go. Many colleges, even Ivies, don't give the Writing section very much credit because it's so new. Your other scores more than make up for it, so you'll be great.
