I noticed that new student enrollment begins on 8/20 for fall 09. Im planning on taking MMW1, econ 100A and math 20c. Are classes ever filled up before 8/20?

Yes, since everyone else is enrolling this month. But don’t worry too much because in all the classes that freshmen typically take, the system saves a certain # of seats for freshman registration. so don’t stress.:)

think it would help to e-mail professor?

No, emailing a professor won’t help at all since the school took all the power to add ppl into classes away…now it’s all automated and the professor pretty much have no say

Yeah it’s all done through Webreg, profs have no say.

damn lol… I couldnt really take any other classes as MATH 20c and econ 100A are prereqs for future courses… i hope your right about the system saving some spots ucsandiego915. On the other hand maht 20C doesn’t seem like a class a freshman would take…

actually I know quite a few 1st years who jumped right into 20c when they got here or during their 1st year. freshmen do take 20c believe it or not.

^^ I second that.
My roommate, and a handful of my friends took 20C their first quarter. They all had different professors as well, thus showing that you’ll should have options in classes & professors.

Freshman enrollment times are NOT based on credit count, rather, they’re lottery-based. Cross your fingers you’ll get Monday. I had Monday @ noon, and my roommate had Thursday @ 3 PM and all the good Chem professors were filled ;x

I took 20C this past fall and it wasnt too hard to get in and get a good prof, even though I had a fairly bad time. But don’t worry, even if you can’t get the class, I’m sure there are plenty of other classes you can take in it’s place for that quarter.

Like Radiance said, New student’s enrollment times are lottery based. Continuing students are credit based.

bleh lol. Well i have 60 units… but im a transfer student. Im assuming im the same as a freshman now lol? thanks for all your help guys

Im not too sure on transfer protocol, but I would think you’d be the same as the freshman for that first quarter of classes.
