Chances to Transfer to Uva,UofCh, Wash U.

Hey,

My dream or highest reach school I really want to get into is the University of Virginia but I doubt I have a chance since my HS GPA and testing scores are low. I am currently attending CC im in my third semester but am thinking of prolonging or taking extra classes to get my transcript better. I want to apply to these schools as a junrior transfer:

UVA
Uof Chicago
Rice
Washington University
Northwestern

I did bad in highschool and slacked..has a 2.9 GPA, no EC besides football, SAT was bad 950 out of 1600 and ACT was bad also a 20 out of 36 but I want to retake the ACT.

In this CC i have a 3.5 GPA, Editor in chief of newspaper, in the honors program which im going to graduate with honors.

I can get my GPA up to a 3.7 if i stay one more semester and a 3.8 if i stay two and also wanted to maybe add to my EC maybe going for another officer postion but I might just do what i like to which is politics and campign or work in offices to show colleges I like that kind of stuff. I also work an average 30+ hours per week at a company and will be promoted to sales which woud be good because i also want to be an economic/finance major and colleges will see i have work experience in the business world. I am 22.

Chances?? Thanks!

anyone have advice of have an idea?

If it's your dream and you've got the money to do it, then by all means, apply to UVA and the rest. You're going to have some serious doubters on here, but give it your best. With your SAT score being so low, I wouldn't expect much, but I say go for it. You never know. Good luck!

Do you live in the state of Virginia? UVA is actually not too hard of a school to transfer into, unless you are trying to get into the commerce school (Business School), that is also not impossible. If you can tell me where (state) you go to school, how many credits you have and what your major is, I can help you out a little bit more. If you are in Economics or Arts and Sciences major then you will have a better chance of getting in as opposed their (business) major. I to would like to do Economics or Finance, my suggestion is to do Economics and minor finance because then you don't have to apply to the commerce school at UVA. Either way just try to get into the school and work your way from there, then again try don't assume that just because your in the school (accepted) means you can get into the commerce school, keep that in mind. Let me know if you need more help, I can say for UVA at least.

yeah thanks MoltenLava that would be great and you have some good suggestions. Yeah UVA has a sort of high acceptance rate but I still heard its hard to get into somewhat and no I live out of state so it will be a lot harder for me. Also I am 22 and will be 23 when I decide to transfer and some colleges like Uof Chicago either allow you to retake the ACT or SAT if your over 5 years of high school or do not accept the scores or u can choose not to send them if it has been 5 years since you graduated from highschool

Let me know if you need some more help...
