I've been at WCSU (state school) and a community college.
GPA: 3.1
Credits: 30
Major: Finance
SATs (from hs): 1530
EC: I work full-time at a bank as a teller since March, Finance Club

High School: Average student, lots of athletics

Cons: I have a lot of drop outs in one semester because I had to drop my day courses and get a full time job.

Money is not a problem for me when transferring.

I'm looking for the best education and I don't care about the social factor as much. I'd prefer schools on the coast thought. I'm looking for the best finance/business based program.

I have a very compelling story on my journey to here from being an illegal immigrant.

Please give me some good advice on where to apply. I'm looking to make a list of maybe 5-7 schools. Any help will be greatly appreciated :-).

5~7?
I strongly recommend UVA.
Sorry i dont have much idea about finance though.
I suggest you take a look at business week rank of undergraduate finance program and find which school has FA for you.

UVA sounds meet all your requirements.
I dont know about the chance though cuz you were asking for recommending colleges, NOT chance. and i'm confused about the GPA...do you refer to college GPA, what about the HS GPA?? if you refered the SAT score is the combination of math and critical reading section(not including writing), that should be a strong solid academic factor in the admission process.

Yes... we need to know whether that SAT score is on a 1600 basis or 2400 basis. Do you care whether the school is large or small? Urban or not? Any other considerations?

Could you break down your GPA for us... what was it in the "good" semester when you didn't have to drop courses? What do you realistically expect your GPA will be for the current semester?

The SAT is on the 2400 basis. I don't care much about whether the school is large or small or urban or not. I just want to get a good education. For my current semester I expect to get a couple of As and a B probably. I'm taking only 3 courses since I work full time. I'm really leaning towards Northeastern right now. Can I realistically get into that school as a transfer?

I was also told that some schools don't consider the SAT after 30 semesters. Is this true for most of them ?

It appears to be. They only seem to want scores if -- as stated --

If you have fewer than 24 semester hours of college-level academic work:

Official high school transcript or GED score report and SAT/ACT scores are required. If you have been out of high school for more than five years, these requirements are waived.

If you have completed at least one full semester of academic work:

Mid-term grades for the current term can be substituted for the high school transcript and SAT requirement.
