Chances to University of Michigan?

Hello, I’m a current high school senior, and I’m planning to apply for U of M. (I’m interested in nursing) From what I researched about the school and my chances, I think its a 50/50. What do you guys think?

Throughout my high school career I’ve been taking as many hard classes I can fit into my schedule. I will only put down the difficult classes during that time.

Unweighted GPA:
Freshman: 3.846 (English & History honor classes, Geometry, etc)
Sophomore: 3.500 (English II honors, Alg II, AP World History, etc)
Junior: 3.850 (AP language and composition, Precalc, AP Chem, AP US history, etc)
Senior (what I am taking now): 4.0 (AP Literature, AP Biology, AP US Government, AP Calc AB, etc)

I’m really going to put in my all this year, so I can bring my avg gpa up.

SAT scores: (going to retake again)
Math: 600
Reading: 630

Extra Curriculars:

-Key Club (treasurer)
-Green Effects (recycling club)
-Model UN
-Ensemble Club (instrument performance club) - Vice president in junior year, president senior year
-Orchestra Club - treasurer in junior year, then secretary in senior year
-UNICEF

-Language Poetry Competitions (gotten 2nd in state, & 2nd and 3rd in regionals)
-Trigstar mathematics competion (3rd place school wide)
-Scholastic art & writing national competition; Honorable mention (poem)
-volunteers at elementary school every week to help kids with learning an instrument for two years.

Btw, I am a first generation, minority, low income student. So would that help with my admission chances?

Are you from Michigan?

If you are out of state - it is pretty expensive. They do not meet need for out of state students.

No. From looking at the student profile on their site, a lot of undergraduates are not from my state.

Michigan meets need for in-state students, and attempts to do so for OOS students. Many OOS students report generous FA packages, but you will have to see. First time college will help you slightly, race and income will not. A better SAT, GPA, and outstanding essays will help you more.

Michigan computes grades by stripping off - and +, all A=4, all B=3 etc. The result is that students who have lots of A- grades get a boost, B+ a drop. You should re-compute your GPA.

Make sure to apply EA where your admission chances will be higher.

The new nursing school is pretty state of the art, only a year or two old.

So my chances would significantly decrease if im out of state?
and my school doesnt have the +/- system for grades.

I would be applying for UMich out of state, but will be moving their permanently. if that matters anyway
