Chances to Urban Schools - NYU, BU, BC, etc.

Hello all, I am an upcoming senior and I was wondering if you all could chance me into a couples of my top choices. I plan to dual degree in Business (concentration in Finance) and Computer Science if possible, with a sole Computer Science major as a back-up plan. As a result, in most of schools I will be applying directly into the business school (e.g. Stern at NYU). Thanks!

Essay: I'm a pretty solid writer and have a pretty unique topic and have some good readers through my out of school college counselor
Recs: Have a good relationship with counselor, so probably a good rec there. Two teacher recs lined up with one being an extremely good writer while the other is pretty good.

I will be applying Early Decision for Columbia and regular decision for the rest. With a 2260, should I take the SAT again? If I'm pretty sure I can get it up to a 2300+ then should I, or would the extra effort be not worth it? If there's anything I'm missing feel free to tell me and I'll edit it in. Thanks!

Nice stats! :)

Your unweighted GPA (which I assume is 3.56?) is very very low for Columbia. Because of that, I recommend you don’t apply anywhere ED: use first semester senior year grades to bump up your GPA, and retake the SAT.

That being said…
Columbia: high reach
NYU: mid reach
BC: low reach
BU: high match
Northeastern: low match

Are you either a MA or NY resident? If so, depending on which state, your chances of admission into a college in that state will be a bit higher.

Weighted: 3.56
Unweighted: 4.47

Something doesn’t seem right here.

Oops! My unweighted GPA is actually 4.17. Must have accidentally hit 4…

I’m from Colorado, so I’ll be applying out-of-state. If NYU is my second choice, would you suggest applying into Stern early decision? Or should I still just go Regular Decision after first semester?

In regards to the SAT, since I’m taking the Subject Tests in October, I’d only have one test to take in November. Would it be better to just take the ACT with writing to see if I can get that up?

Apply RD everywhere in order to pad your GPA with some senior year grades.

Definitely take the ACT with Writing instead of the SAT and Subject Tests. You did very well on the ACT so far, so you have a high chance of getting a 36 composite score next time.

How is unweighted higher than weighted!?
