Hi everyone! I'm a new member and this is my first post so I am sorry if this is in the wrong thread.

I'm currently attending Union County College with an aspiration to transfer to NYU Steinhardt to major in Communications.

[i wrote this in an email to a professor]:
My goal at Union County College (UCC) is to build up a solid foundation for my transfer application to NYU Steinhardt when it comes time to transfer. I should have 65 credits by the end of the Spring Term in 2007. However there are some issues that have made me hesitant to even apply.
Prior to UCC I was at Middlesex County College (MCC) from 2003-2005. I was extremely unaware of the opportunities college had for me and was following curriculums for majors that would please my parents (i.e biology, chemistry). The advisors and professors I encountered at MCC were no where near as nice and helpful then the staff is at UCC. It was just an awful experience where I ended up failing courses because I would not attend and the main reason I stayed in school was to please my parents. Needless to say I retook the courses and the same thing happened. I had no idea what I was doing. I finally decided to take a break from school and went off to full-time work. When I realized it was not for me, I researched different schools and majors to find out what was. Ultimately, I used that negative 2 year experience and turned it into a positive at UCC where I could not be more enthusiastic about the opportunities and possibilities I have.
My transcript at MCC is as follows
Nutrition: F
English Comp I: F, B
Anthropolgy: F, F, F
Psychology: F, C, F
Basic Bio: F
Comp App: C
Math of Finance: F
Summed up: 24 attempted credits, 9 credits, 21 grade points, 1.167gpa
As you can see a horrible transcript. When I applied to UCC and met with an advisor, she told me I did not have to put down I attended MCC since I was not going to transfer any credits. One of the questions I have is, if I am eligible to transfer to NYU with my stats from UCC, will I still have to put it down? I'm sure it will put me at a severe handicapp in the application process. According to the NYU application, it states, "Please list all colleges you have attended, whether or not the courses were taken for credit. Include college level courses taken while in high school. (List most recent institutions first. Please have an official transcript sent directly from each institution as soon as possible.)" When I ask this question, I get a lot of mixed replies.
Currently, I am striving to do my best and then some so I may achieve my goals. I'm a Communications major so I joined the college radio station and have my own weekly live 2hr show. I volunteer at JFK hospital and work part-time at Dolce & Gabbana as a sales associate. I am in the process of becoming a group leader volunteer to the 4-H Youth Organization and am interning in the fall at RCA Music Group in NYC. I am also a member for scholarship at Phi Theta Kappa.
Right now I have 36 credits with a 3.8 gpa (mostly As and some Bs). I would like to get my gpa up to a 3.9 by the end of the Winter Session and apply in the spring for the Fall 2007 semester.
I feel my MCC transcript is really going to hold me back if I have to submit it. I've researched NYU's sites and forums and I know their schools are highly selective. It is unfortunate I had to learn the hard way. Along with my previous question about submitting my MCC transcript, I would also like to know your personal opinions. Now that you know my situation and creditentials, should I still try for NYU and apply?, especially if I have to submit my MCC transcript?

*I figured since I graduated high school in 2003, my high school stats will not count as much. But if my high school stats will help you determine your opinon, they were: 2.9 gpa, key club, varsity tennis (co-captain), cheerleading, volunteer work.

Sorry for the long read, but thank you for your help and opinions! They're most appreciated!!
