I don't think my grades or test scores are good enough for UPENN but maybe Georgetown?

Haha, sorry for the hard time. I’m being silly.

Anyhow, is it possible to retake the SAT I in October? I feel like your CR score should go up a bit. Any idea on how you stand among your peers?

yeah im planning to retake it in october
well our school doesnt give out ranks and i go to a huge school where our graduating class is 700 kids but i probably fit within top 10%

i dont know im thinking about just early decisioning to georgetown because i feel that upenn is a stretch

Georgetown only has early action and that doesn’t really mean much. I think you should go for applying early to Penn. You never know unless you go for it, and you certainly don’t want to regret not going for it.

Assuming you have 19 academic core subjects with 2 b+'s and 3 b’s, you have a 3.77 recalculated UW GPA. Is this correct before i make any judgements?

(BTW, i got 19 subjects because that’s how many i have :))

Low chance. Your ECs (FBLA, Mock Trial, Golf, Math, Student Govt) are all average for applicants to top colleges. Unless you’ve won significant awards or honors that you haven’t mentioned (eg FBLA national awards, Mock Trial state champ, state-ranked in golf), your chances are looking slim.

You are also competing against other high-scoring Asian-Americans for the “unhooked” spots at Penn…and your CR is not so stellar, like another poster pointed out.

It will come down to your essays and recs, because those are the things that give your application a human quality and lend a window into your life.

You are a very competitive applicant in the entire pool of college admissions. However, for top schools, you are amongst the sea of high-achieving students. It should also be noted that you have a slight downward grade trend. Compared to other kids who have juggled all-AP schedules with a 5.0 W GPA, that could be a weak spot.

Unless you were applying to the School of Nursing at Penn (which even then, you’d be disadvantaged because you have no medical/health experience). I’d seriously consider Georgetown instead.

Penn cares about rank more than any other school I know. Only 2% were not in the top 10% of their class. Your school will give enough info to rank you.

Bring the CR score to at least 730 for a real shot. Much better chance if you’re not from the mid Atlantic.
