Chances with IB??

I am a rising senior from Orlando, FL, and am in the International Baccalaureate program at my school, which is actually a pretty rough school, and has a "grade" of a C/D. Pitiful, I know, especially since there's IB there. Anyways, I'm a really fantastic writer, so the essays should really help me out, but I completely suck at standardized tests. I NEVER do well on them, and I'm afraid it could really hurt me. I'm an upper-middle class, white, female. I plan on applying early admission. Here are my stats:

My interests as far as majors are English/Literature, Drama/Theatre Arts, Foreign Languages, Humanities/PoliSci

GPA: 3.95 unweighted (that damn B in geometry Freshman year...)
4.95 weighted

Courses:
9th: Pre-IB everything: Geometry, Biology, English I, Spanish I, Drama I
AP World History
10th: Pre-IB everything: Algebra II, Chemistry I, Spanish II, English II, Drama II
AP European History
11th: IB everything: Mathematics SL, Chemistry II SL, Spanish IV HL, English III HL, Theatre Arts I HL, History of the Americas HL

and my schedule for senior year:
12th: IB everything: Mathematics II SL, Theory of Knowledge, Spanish V HL, English IV HL, Theatre Arts II HL, History of the Americas II HL

I've received A's in everything except freshman Geometry.

Test Scores (again, I completely suck at standardized testing):
SAT: CR/M/W 630/650/680 and an 11 on the essay
ACT: R/M/E/S/Comp. (science really screwed me over...) 30/28/28/24/28
APs: World History-3, European History-4, Lang/Comp-??, US History-??
IB: Chem SL- 4 of 7

Extracurriculars:

MNHS (11, 12)
Spanish Club (9,10,11,12)
Piano (2nd grade-present)
Quizbowl (how embarrassing =/) (11,12)

As a part of IB, we have to do CAS hours annually, so I've completed a total of 323 hours just Community Service in my combined freshman, sophomore, and junior years.

Miscellaneous:
People to People Student Ambassador (8th- present)
Member of the Student Leadership Board for Cystic Fibrosis (11-present)
Treasurer of NHS (11-present)
MVP on Varsity Tennis (11)
Disney Dreamer and Doer (8)
2nd Most Philosophical Eighth Grader in America

I plan on retaking either the SAT or the ACT, I'm not sure which though...I can't tell which one I did better on.

So? Is there any hope for me??? =/

Don’t sweat one B! I just got into Vassar and was in the IB program. You have a higher GPA than I had (3.87 UW). My standardized test scores were on par w/ Vassar. Based on your post, I think you worry too much (like about ONE B). I think you have a really good shot.

Erm I’m sorry but honestly, I think your GPA isn’t reflective of much and won’t help you as much as you think it may. Yes a 3.95 looks great in a vacuum but:

I understand that standardized testing is not your thing but there’s a consistent trend throughout your standardized testing record that only seems to indicate that your HS is quite the inflater of grades. It’s not hard at all to get a 6 or 7 for IB subjects especially since the whole standardized test incapability thing doesn’t quite apply to tests in science. It only weakens the impact of your GPA to have a test record like that.

Having said that, people have gotten into Vassar with similar records so don’t lose hope and apply anyway. Applying Early will only help.

And seriously:

Seriously…
