This year I started our school’s first annual Homecoming Charity Carnival for the Hurricane Katrina victims and we raised several thousand dollars. PS, I didn’t do it to put it on my ECs. It took at least 15 hours a week for 4 weeks on top of my other homecoming involvements, like building the float and being in the skit. But it was amazing.

Work Experience:
Receptionist / Office Assistant for last 3 years at small local business, work

I did an overnight at Brown and I fell in love. It’s definitely tied with Dartmouth for my #1, I just happened to apply to Dartmouth ED in advance. I love Brown.

Is anyone else really enjoying their senior year? Because I am. I already have senioritis, but its okay.

So, this is your long-anticipated joke.

What are prehistoric monsters called when they sleep?
A dinosnore!

LOL!

I hope you get in because our stats are very similar. I don't know what to say other than that you're in the right range. There's nothing here that will really hurt you (or help you). I think most of their applicants are like you and me. If you have a good essay, you should get in. Give them something that will make you stand out against similar applicants. It's nice that you've done community service, but so have a lot of kids. You should definitely mention it in your activities section, but you would have to be really creative to make it into a successful main essay (just because so many other people will write about community service). Think of what's unique about you and write that. Think of what you want the admissions committee to know that they probably won't from the rest of your application.

I'm sure you'll organize your activites better on your apps, but I'll mention it anyway. It looks like you were VP for MUN without ever being in MUN, and you should probably explain what an "interact member" is. I'm guessing it's community service of some sort.

I hope this doesn't come across too harsh. I think you have a good chance. If I'm being a little hard on you, it's just because, as I said, our stats are very similar and I'm worried about mine.

And btw, I love the joke.

Yeah, me and a friend of mine started MUN at our school this year. And you guess right, Interact is a community service club. I def. organized it better on my resume.

I hope we both get in! Where are you from?

That's great that you organized a team at your school. It should help you stand out.

And I'm from MA, which, like CA, has too many students applying to top schools!

Our stats are similar too. Getting into Brown is like winning a lottery, only harder.

Well, it seems that way, anyway. I hope we all get in! Because, obviously, the other kids who don't come to this board and apply don't care as much? Right? Right?

Ah... being hopeful. = (
