chances with rutgers

In a previous post of mine, most people said it was likely i would get accepted into rutgers. But I know a guy who had a 3.3 gpa and got a 1950 on his SATs yet did not get into rutgers!!!!! that must mean i'm not getting in too.
what do you think?

my stats:
gpa: 3.51
rank: 166/526
SAT: 1650

Throw your stats into the 'Chances' forum - you'll get more responses.

Those are really low SAT's...I guess it depends on which major you are going for...and which campus.

There has to be a mistake, those scores would put your friend in the top 25% rutgers students.

he could have had really bad essays, recs, and ECs.
there's more than just GPA and SATs.

actually, rutgers doesn't require recs or essays. its very weird that that guy didnt get in !! if it makes you feel better, i know people with way worse stats than him that have gotten in.. it is DEFINATELY not the norm for someone with that profile to be rejected (esp assuming hes in-state)

how are your ECs?
it also depends on your school. you can get into rutgers honors with a scholarship with a 3.5gpa if you go to a hard school, so that is really important. if you dont know, consider asking your counselor if people with similar stats to you have gotten admitted in the past. and try to relax, theres not much you can do about it know, except i guess you could retake the SATs on sat standby, if that might help, and try to bring up senior grades a little.

have you applied to one or more safer schools, as well?
