I am a junior in Alabama and I have a 3.4 uw gpa and a 3.7 w gpa. I have a 28 on the ACT. I take all college prep/honors classes and will take an AP in my senior year. I am involved with 3-4 EC's and plan on doing some community service in the summer. What do you think my chances are?

Pretty good especially because you’re a junior. You should raise your GPA some but you have time to do that, and your ACT is good and you also have time to raise that if you please. Just make sure to apply early ( like September-October) it will increase your chances , but no later than November .

I haven’t yet. I plan to at the beginning of my senior year. Around August - October. Which also means that GPA will also go up and ACT if I retake it. Do you think I should retake it?

Yeah I realized after I read it again that you are a junior
Haha I’m so used to reading these I just skim through them. And yeah you should always retake because higher scores increase your chances and your scholarship money. I’m not sure what the the requirements are to get into the honors college but you should be pretty close.

Alright thanks! So you think I am going to get in anyway, even if I don’t get into the honors?

I am currently a junior at my high school in Georiga and I have a 3.3GPA. I just got my SAT scores back today and I was wondering if anyone could tell what my chances are for UCF admission. This is the first time i’ve taken the SAT btw. I hoping by my 2nd or 3rd time with the SAT i can get around a 1900.

SFHS2012grad, apply as soon as they start taking applications, which I think is July or August! I can’t stress this enough. The process can take longer than you think. Get the application and essay in during the summer and ask your school to send transcripts as soon as they can upon returning to school in the fall, send the ACT scores you have, its high enough to get in.

Thanks and I will. I will look right now to see when they accept applications and then I guess fill them out then! Feels weird knowing that I’m this close to being done with high school.

YES, LISTEN TO THEM. APPLY EARLY!!! UCF as of now is the hardest public school to get into because of it’s population. I’ve personally spoken to the President of admissions and he told me that only about 5,000-6,000 students get accepted out of the 25,000 students that apply. That’s only about a fifth of the students that apply.

If you want to get into the fall, you’re gonna wanna raise your GPA. They’re also being very selective about which term you apply for.

One last thing, make sure you’re involved in some extra-curriculars. Your scores and GPA are fine and everything but that’s not all they look at. They love to see students involved in their school and community.

So you are saying that if I join some clubs for senior year and get some community service this summer then I will have a good chance of getting in?

Any college in general is gonna love extra-curriculars and community service. It’ll definitely raice your chances. Colleges like to see stuff like leadership ability and service in their applicants.

SFHS2012grad, I can’t stress enough the importance of applying as early as possible. My son got his acceptance the first week of September. All he had to do was keep his grades up for the rest of his senior year. His stats were 3.6 GPA and a 26 on the ACT. Pretty sure if he had waited he would have gotten deferred. He also got a Bronze Pegasus scholarship!!

Thank you and was your son’s GPA weighted or unweighted?

That was his UCF calcuated GPA, his weighted high school GPA was a 3.8
