Hi guys..
I'm new to CC so please let me know if I'm doing this right!
I am currently a ninth grader at a junior boarding school who has applied to four secondary schools (Loomis Chaffee, Middlesex, St. Paul's, and Portsmouth Abbey) as a repeat freshman. I'm a terrible test taker and therefore scored poorly on the SSATs, but I have great grades and received glowing recommendations from my teachers. I have been a Varsity Cross Country captain and #1 on my team for two years, am a member of yearbook, chorus, play, am a school ambassador, and a staff editor for my school's newspaper and literary magazine. I am super worried about
getting into any of my four schools mostly because of my test scores. My brother is a senior at Loomis, my aunt and two cousins went to St. Paul's, and my uncle attended Portsmouth Abbey. Even with family connections, I still feel like my chances are slim to none.
Anyone have an idea of what my chances might be?

i think you have a good chance because u have family connections, and a lot of boarding experience, good extra curriculars, etc i really doubt that your ssat will weigh that heavily so… :)

What was your SSAT results?

If you have great recommendations and a good interview, along with amazing extracurricular (I am a X-Country champion myself) your SSATS should not matter much, also with the family connections, those really help, You have good chances. Please chance me back. <a href=“Chance me for Collegiate School(NY), I will chance back - Prep School Chances - College Confidential Forums”>Chance me for Collegiate School(NY), I will chance back - Prep School Chances - College Confidential Forums;
