I don't know what the first few people were smoking but I do not think you can get into an Ivy at all. If I am wrong I would gladly eat my words because the chances are just so minute.

In today's college admissions, even 4.0's and 2200s are getting rejected from the current Top 25 (look at UCLA's rejections). I would think your 3.5 and 28 ACT puts you out of the running for most of the top 25's and your least selective school on your list (besides USC) for in-state (Berkeley) is a big reach as well.

If other kids applying to UCLA with 4.0s and 2200s were rejected, I don't think you can get into Berkeley with a 3.5 and 28 ACT.

Reason? State schools care almost all about stats. They don't care so much about your E.C.'s nor essays.

With your current list I think you would only get into USC and even that is questionable (not guaranteed).

ACT 28 is way too low. Work hard to raise that to at the very least 30+...possibly 32+.

3.5 GPA is low too. Work on that.

If you aren't able to raise your scores, get some very amazing ECs to make up the difference.

28 ACT converts to an 1866.....definitely NOT ivy league material. A 2200 converts to a 33 ACT.....and as the previous poster said...a lot of those people were/are rejected too.

I agree. Your ACT and GPA are low for any schools in the top 30 or so. You can apply to a couple as reaches, if you want to. But you need to select schools that match your statistics. Also, try to up your ACT score and GPA. Improve on your ECs if possible. If you really want a prestige school, look at liberal arts colleges as well as universities. They are less competitive, and need males, so may take one whose stats are a little low. Also look at universities ranked from say 35 to 60.

I'm not anti-ivy or anything, but WHY do you want to go to an ivy? Have you been to a campus? doing it for the prestige? what is your intended major? WHY WHY WHY

seriously, you need to look into your stuff and know everything, ivys are cool, but its not the end of the world. Reality check: most people [by most, I really mean like 90%, basically I'm trying to tell you that Ivy league is Ivy league for a reason] [though a Princeton adcom told me that regular 3.5s DO EXSIST at princeton, though they are a minority =/ ]who apply to ivies, don't get in. Just letting you know that...

you have many more alternatives that could be great schools, and yes, non ivy can be GOOD SCHOOLS TOO. [omg who ever though of such a thing!???]

good luck with all your future endeavours, and I hope you get into a g o d d a m n ivy. ;]

well i visted cornell and i really really liked it. ive been to johns hokpkins too and those two schools are my top choices. do i have a chance there?

but a 34 ACT + 3.7 UW+ Decent EC's shoudn't be too tough. [Cornell and JHU] but the rest are still reaches. Not necceasrily because of YOU per se, just because everyone applying there will have 4.0's and stellar test scores.

so I say get AT LEAST a 30 ACT and then apply to some prestegious non-ivy schools.

but based on your EC's, you need near perfect test scores. You are by no means a bad student. you are a great student, but so are everyone else applying to HYPS and JHU.

think about it.

you will do well at other schools which will probably suit you more. Its a name dude. nothing else. I'll give you that the first 5 years of entering the job market, Columbia University will look a lot better than UC Merced. [not saying Merced is a bad school, hell, I would be happy to get in there, but then again, I probably won't GO. lawlz]

If it's not a URM, then it doesn't really matter if you're a minority. Why would they want to get more Asians over whites if they already have a sizable population of asians.
