I know my SAT scores are not that high, so I am planning on taking the ACT at the end of this month with hopes of scoring higher. What are my chances as of right now?

@juliacollege

I think still very good. You appear to have demonstrated you can do college level work. In the end that is still the goal, or at least the main goal, of the admissions process. There are other factors; every school has its own “personality”. But generally speaking demonstrating that you will be successful in the classroom and add to the overall quality of the student body is still key. Of course, if you can do much better on the ACT, it not only would cement your chances but also lead to some merit money, if the score is high enough.

And while we do get used to seeing higher SAT scores, that is still an average of about 620 on each section, which somehow sounds much better. I wonder why that is?
