It sounds like you’re definitely very qualified and very likely to get into Tulane- I would say you have a good chance for financial aid too. I think they often look at your major when choosing who to give financial aid too so as long as you demonstrate dedication to a field. If they’re super focused on your SAT score- you might have a lesser chance of financial aid but I’m not 100% sure

You have extremely high stats! Congratulations on them thus far! You seem very academically focused while being able to maintain a busy schedule, which is not easy to do! You seem to have a very good chance of being admitted.

A few tips, make sure you send that ACT score! Any supporting information to back up you and your academics/character is definitely beneficial to you and your application! Some more advice, I know it’s hard to relax and not stress about your portal update/letter, but that is the best thing to do! You don’t want to rely on what others think or say, because ultimately, it is up to Tulane and their Admissions Office. I wish you the best of luck!!

Thanks for the advice @acebabe

I honestly think it’s too late for sending and ACT, as if i theoretically sent it tonight, it would not get there until next week. And my decision will likely be done by Friday December 15. So admissions would only have like a week with it.

And one thing I regret in terms of supporting information is that I did not do any of the optional recomendations. I only did the guidance counselor/school report required one. I did not do one from a teacher or something. I think this could hurt me. Do you think it will?

And yes, I am going to try to just relax from here on out until December 20 ~

It’s still worth a shot! You never know if it could help or not! As for not doing the other optional ones, it could have been a bit of a downfall, but I don’t think you have anything to worry about! @FLBoy4994

I heard they accepted 90 percent of their class for 2022 through ED. Is this true?

That number must be way too high and where exactly did you here that?

I heard the same thing but hope it isn’t true. Can anyone get Jeff’s attention at Tulane to help us understand if there are even any opened slots left for EA students?

That number is far too high. I think the person who previously commented that was referring to the fact that Tulane admits 90% of its class from EA/ED applications, and 10% from RD. When my admissions counselor spoke at my high school, I remember him saying that the admission rate for RD is significantly lower than EA/ED. I don’t remember the exact number, but it was somewhere around 5-15%

Thank you for the update. Very helpful

Last year, 35% of 19672 applicants were admitted who applied Early Action. That’s according to collegedata.com and could be incorrect, but probably not by too much. If that seems like a lot of admits, it is. Tulane has a low yield rate and that could relate to zero fee application or that it’s a backup for so many who apply. I don’t know why anyone would think that Tulane will not be admitting thousands from the EA pool when they were close to 7K last year. Why do you think they would change that?

Any advice for waiting the 19 dya Till my s hears?

@chappmom5

Honestly, what I am doing as an applicant is trying not to think about it as much as possible but it is hard! I am trying to dive into my current school work though like midterm exam preparation as a way of trying to take my mind off of waiting from colleges while still engaging myself academically.

So, what do you think are my chances? I would be glad to chance your son as well.

@FLBoy4994 I don’t think you need to submit your ACT score if 30 because -the concordance table lists a 1420 on new SAT equates to 31 on ACT. On the other hand, submitting the ACT score will show that your 1420 was no fluke and that you received a consistent high score. These scores are good and within the mid 50% range of applicant credentials for admission. Did you apply before the EA deadline? Did you take a rigorous high school curriculum–with mostly honors courses (?) along with the 5 AP courses you mentioned above. I think your extracurriculars are a weak point in your application because you did not take any leadership position until treasurer in 12th grade. But the varsity swimming is good and you were in several clubs. Also you did not submit any recommendations other than your Guidamce counselor’s. That’s another weak area of your application. You will be competing for admission with many equally talented applicants stat-wise who may have more stellar recommendations submitted on their behalf. Did you show demonstrated interest by visiting Tulane or attending a local meet and greet with admissons representatives in your state/area or reaching out to the Tulane admissons representative that covers the geographic area where your hometown/high school is located? Did you write a strong Why Tulane essay? If you’ve done all that, then I think you have about a 50% chance of admission. There are just too many overqualified applicants for limited space in the class. Admissons rate was 21% for the current freshman class. So it’s not a sure thing. By the way the best predictor of your chance is your high school’s Naviance–what does Naviance say about your chances–are your scores in the accept zone?

@FLBoy4994 disagree with post above. You look good for Tulane with money. Your only bump is the class rank, which is still pretty good and can be explained by your guidance counselor as part of a strong class.

@frozencustard

Thanks for giving me some hope!

I’m really hoping to get some merit aid from Tulane due to the costs involved as well.

And yeah I have kind of been worried about my class rank but we are an extremely high-performing school which is why my rank isn’t that high because of this fact and the small size of our school.

I am worried, however, that I really messed up on not doing the optional teacher or like community (such as a sports coach) counselor, recommendations as I feel that this may be a huge deterrence to me. Do you think I am like literally the only one who didn’t do these and it could hurt me? The reason I didn’t do it is that wanting to go to Tulane was kind of a late realization so I applied pretty close to November 15 EA deadline so I did not have the time for the optional recs.

@FLBoy4994 There are no sure things, but your stats are a match for Tulane and more competitive than many who posted they were admitted for the fall on ED. You should be cautiously optimistic.

Sounds like your approach to focusing on other things. Super smart

@FLBoy4994 If you have a teacher/advisor in mind, have them send the rec ASAP. Send it directly to your admissions counselor. That puts your name in front of your counselor an extra time! This could work in your favor if the recommendation that is received is glowing! Good luck!
