Chances

Hi CollegeConfidential!

My son applied EA to USC this year and I’m wondering what kind of shot he has for admission. Currently he has a 3.65 weighted GPA with a 26 ACT. He has taken 8-9 APs along with being dual enrolled at the local community college for English. He also took SAT subject tests and scored a 770 on Math II and 650 on US History. We are OOS, and he attends a public high school in Virginia. Also, I’m pretty sure he is top 25% of his class. He is the President of the Key Club and a part of National Honor Society so he has devoted many of his Saturdays to service in our community- which I am very proud of!We have already toured the campus and he loves it, it’s his #1 choice. Does he have a realistic chance of being accepted? Thank you and have a great day

Also, he is waiting on his SAT he just took in November.

Here are stats of last year’s freshman class. His ACT is in the middle. GPA is harder to comment on since USC will recalculate.

Applied: 23,346
Enrolled: 4,975
GPA (high school average): 3.99
SAT range: 1130-1280
ACT range: 24-29

Good luck.

From our son’s OOS (MD) admission recently, I’d think you’re looking pretty good.

Thank you for your response CurlSnout! One thing that was confusing for us was that the average weighted GPA on USC’s website is 3.99 but the Sims Scholar states an average of 3.6 weighted GPA. We just want to be realistic about his chances of admission.
