I applied to BC Early Action and I know decisions come back next week, but I’m really anxious about it since BC is my #1. I applied to the nursing school and here are my stats:
Classes: AP US history (2 years, 4), AP English language (4), AP French (two year class, in the second year), AP English lit (taking right now), AP Psychology (taking now), everything else is honors in my transcript
Extracurriculars: Varsity outdoor track (freshman to senior), Varsity indoor track (sophomore to senior, captain this winter), Varsity cross-country (sophomore to senior, captain this fall), 30 hours of community service at a nursing home, 150 hours coaching youth soccer, 20 something hours helping at my old elementary school, work part-time (junior year to now), NHS (junior year to now), Student council (freshman year to now), Student government (freshman year to now)
My essay is on helping my aunt with special needs meet her idol through social media and how that showed I want to help people in the future.
Both my parents went to BC (one for law and the other for undergrad)
Dear miamcd95 : When I read your opening sentence expressing an interest in CSON (Connell School of Nursing), I was immediately interested as we do not see many threads asking for a CSON-chance assessment. I started scouring your academic profile looking for your science background … and did not find anything listed in your coursework covering Biology or Chemistry … or Physics … or Earth Science/Physical Environment. With a raw GPA at 3.3 (B+, unlikely Top 10% of your class), your profile might find challenges during the EA round. We will be interested to hear more about your acceptance for several reasons : (1) impact of legacy, (2) whether your essay communicated why you make BC a better place to attend, and (3) how your academic stats match up against the CSON/EA class. Good luck.
Thank you so much for responding! I decided to ask for my own chance assessment because I don’t match up exactly with anyone else who applied this year or last.
I have taken all honors classes since freshman year so I have a 95 in biology freshman year, then a B+ in chemistry sophomore year, and a B in physics junior year. This year I’m taking Anatomy and Physiology with all As so fad.
In my essay, I talked about how BC is the perfect environment I want for a nursing major and how I want to help the community at BC.
I’m in the top 15% of my class.
Do you think I have a chance or is BC too much of a reach? Every day decisions get closer I get more anxious so I hope the email comes on Monday!
