Im an in-state student with
ACT: 30 super score
GPA:3.7 w
Sat: 1250 (new test)
Dual enrollment classes: 11
Ec: Cheer, Track, Medical club, working part time
I have one D on my semester grades in Spanish 3, but i transferred high schools that year, no C’s though. All A’s B’s and one D
I know my GPA is on the low side but I’m hoping being an in-state student with high test scores will help
Your ACT is stronger than your SAT, although I know Florida State asks for all tests taken, so they will certainly go by your ACT superscore. I think the fact that your ‘D’ was in Spanish 3, technically not even a course necessary to get into FSU, will not weigh heavily against you. The rest looks quite good, I like your chances! I would put my money on you getting in. Good luck, only two more days!
The D may get you deferred. If it’s only one and the other semester grade in that class was an A or B it should be fine, but FSU is very picky about semester grades below a C.
@Pasbal well I’m either fucked or destroyed. I got one D and that was in 9th grade Spanish due to the sudden passing of my grandmother during mid-term week. Literally the day we were starting the tests and I was at school that morning, my mother pulled me out around 8:50 AM and said that my grandma had passed away and she found her in the house due to a heart-attack. My 9th grade year was … pfft, it was terrible. Managed to bring up a 2.6 to a 3.1, but still. I wrote about it a little bit in my essay, and explained that was the reason I wanted to attend their nursing program, so hopefully, I get accepted haha. ugh, now that I think about it, that was the same year I went from a 98 to a 79 C in Biology :(( :(( :((
Keep your hopes up Frykera, I think a D in freshman year will hurt a lot less than a D in junior/senior years, especially if you explained it in your essay. I also like how you tied the experience with your grandmother into your career goals.
@fsu1999
If there is one class you should get a pass on for getting a D it would be Spanish III after a transfer of schools. My
D had to take Spanish III out of district. Lucky for her she went from a hard district to an easier district. She feels she would not have passed if she had gone the other way. Spanish II is not standardized in the state of Florida.
If the D was in a core academic course like Algebra or English I think it would be a problem, but hopefully Spanish III will not be looked at as harshly since it is not a required course for graduation.
Good luck tomorrow!
@CaucAsianDad @fsu1999 only 1 more day left. Let’s do this!!
