chances

Chances: White male from Vermont, interested in political science
GPA: ~3.65 UW
Freshman year: 3.65 UW
Sophomore year: 3.4 UW
Junior year: 3.7-3.8 UW
Senior year ~3.85 UW

I've taken one of the most difficult courseloads avaliable at my school.

ACT: 34

ECs: lots of political stuff, a few leadership positions, should write good essays and have good recs.

Quick chances would be great! Thanks.

Class rank? Hard to evaluate GPA's at any high school in isolation. Nice ACT!

I think applying ED would increase anyone's chances. Good luck! Have you been to visit?

Well, it's hard to say because at my school, the Colgate acceptances have been inconsistent. Last year, my good friend's brother, who had a 94-95% GPA (which gave him a pretty nice class rank) and high 1300's on the SAT, tons of EC's (leadership, sports, and clubs) and a pretty awesome essay applied and was rejected. Not even waitlisted. But then this year, our student council president applied. I'm not sure about her test scores, but I know that her GPA wasn't even good enough to get her into the National Honor Society, so it couldn't have been great. She didn't play any sports and other than student council, had very little ECs or anything unique about her.
The difference? I think that Mike (the first person) applied regular decision, and Lauren (the second person) applied ED. So go with ED, because obviously it helps immensely.

Good luck, Colgate is a pretty sweet school :-)

It's tough to tell with context of what that GPA translates to with regard to class rank. At my school, that easily would be the top 5%. If that is true, with that ACT (which I'm guessing translates into upper 1400s) and general other involvement, I would think your chances, at even RD, would at least be 85%.

Actually a 34 is better than upper 1400's

1510-1550 = 34

a 33 would get you into the upper 1400's
