i know that uva is getting more and more competitive so suggestions of anyting i can do to make my app better would b greatly appreciated.

o...well if i study for the reading on the sat and bring that up sig. and get in the top 10% cuz next year im taking all honors/aps again (im pretty sure i can get into 10% cuz all i need is 4as 4bs), will that significantly increase my chances of getting in?

hmmmmm, last year (class of 06) like 80 ppl from my school of like 470 applied to u.va, yet only 30 made it, and 18 chose to go, im 49/470 (hopefully will try to make it better). So that means there will b a/b 45 who have better ranks. Would u.va. pick those 45 ppl over me? (assuming i have ok sats scores, 2100-2200)

btw. in ur last comment, does that basically mean rank>gpa?? who would fare better, someone who challenges himself but gets low gpa, high rank due to gpa inflation (weighted gpa), or someone who gets good grades but doesnt challenge himself (high unweighted gpa), o yeah, thx for ur time!, i greatly appreciate ur help

The people ahead of you may not have a better chance per say. I have spoken to Dean Gregory about this and she said that it can happen that someone who is ranked 12th and be accepted over the salutatorian. Rank is the better way to decide how well you did in high school than GPA.

To answer question, both would have about equal chance to get in. Actually, if I remember I think I took the hardest classes next to APs except for physics and got in easily while one girl who took APs out of the yin-yang got waitlisted.
