Chances?

I go to a pretty competative high school. My GPA is really bad though. Unweighted its about a 2.8 and weighted its like a 3.0. I had a strong aversion to homework

My grades:

Freshman year (2.96 W):

English 9 Honors: 80
Spanish II: 84
World History: 87
Algebra I Honors: 78
Physical Science: 79
Gym: 95
Health: 85
Engineering: 89
Computer Skills: 86

Softmore Year (3.12 W):

English 10: 85
Biology: 84
World History Honors: 86
Geometry: 80
Spanish III: 80
Engineering II: 92
Web Page Design: 88
Gym: 95

Junior Year (forget my exact GPA):

English 10: 89
US History Honors: 89
Chemistry: 80
Psychology AP: 75
Algebra II: 70
Spanish IV: 86
Business Law: 89
Gym: 95

Senior Year I plan on straight A’s term 1! (I’ve signed up for 1 AP, 2 honors classes)

However I did pretty well on the SAT, with a 2000 out of 2400. SAT II’s are 740 in World History, 740 in US History, 640 in Literature.

I have good extra curriculars (peer counselor, state finalist for speech and debate team, model UN, various jobs, wrestling team, ski club, cross country team).

I’m probably going to major in international relations. I am a decent writer as well so my essay should hopefuly be decent. I will have a recommendation from my English teacher and my History Honors teacher.

do your homework! :)

your grades are rubbish but your scores are pretty good. You need to retake the SAT and aim for a 2100 to put you over the top.

Idk, its gonna be hard to overcome those grades, especially with no APs so far, though your school may not offer them. I would try to do very well on the SATs and make sure you get straight A's.

I did AP Psychology (junior) and AP European History (senior)

Honestly, I would put a lot of effort into other applications. AU is fast becoming a much more competitive and selective college. The average stats for incoming freshman is about a 3.6 UW GPA and a 1300 SAT score (roughly 650 for each subject).

If AU really is a first choice you need to have a good explanation for your aversion to homework, and show a large increase in your GPA, probably even your test scores. Good luck!
