Edit: JV wrestling 2 years, JV crew 2 years
Hispanic, first generation
National Hispanic Recognition program Honorable Mention (which is a nice way of saying sorry :P
and I don't know if going to a boarding school helps or not...
and my recs should be good.

Caltech- extremely tough- i didnt even bother applying as they are INSANE!! but if your essays were good and your ECs are substantial (i dont know the level of involvement sorry) you may have a slim shot

with ur GPA idk the level so i cant comment on that but if u have a high rank in ur school and its competitive that will count.. taking tough classes is always good (though some nights u rather kill urself i know)

harvey mudd i can see u getting in.. rice as well .. first generation is always good and if u can apply that to a smart essay or another topic to a very good essay i say you have a good shot at all the 'ivy level' institutions- even caltech (its ridiculous).. I hope u took the interview for MIT because that is IMPORTANT! look at the stats good luck with everything.. being a URM will help as well

I had an amazing interview with MIT. It was really exciting.
And my GPA is kinda low, but I go to Exeter, so it's not as bad, but it's still a little low.
And My essay feels pretty strong, I don't know if any of you want to read it or not...
As far as involvement, 2 years of wrestling and crew,
and seven years of viola, with 4 in symphony and 2 years of chamber orch and chamber ensemble. pretty in depth involvement in middle school assisting.
I also worked at a grocery store lol.

exeter? my friend wants to go there next year for his PG... anyways .. sorry i dont want to read your essay haha.. but if ur ranked well for exeter it will hold weight.. especially if u have good recs as well

i had a good interview too.. what did u talk about in yours?

I'm a first generation.
Ambitious
fun
committed
involved. He was a first generation too and said he definitely understood where I was coming from and was very nice.
But the most hilarious part was that he was running a little late, so I was waiting a little long in the College Counseling office, but I ended up talking to some of the college counselor's and telling the story of my day. That day was amazingly funny, so they were excited about it (which was kinda odd to me) and when my interviewer came out and asked for me, the counselor's were like "Oh, wait, I really want to hear the rest of his story." I don't think it could've looked better if I'd actually tried beforehand.

I didn't think anyone would want to read them :P
and I love Exeter. Kinda strict, but really awesome people and classes.

hahaha nice nice.. first generation im guessing american.. cause im first generation canadian (well half- my dad was born in korea).. or first generation to go to college?

First generation for college.
I'm half El Salvadorian, from my dad's side, but he left when I was seven.
My mom only graduated high school (and barely).
I know some guys that went to school in Canada.
I still don't get it. The system seems odd to me for some reason.

I'm not sure which school
But my friend is a studying fiend.
2400 SAT, but isn't the most social guy on campus. But he's hilarious.
I like the american system :(
Canadia does sound like a fun country though. My friend gets $500 or something for turning 18. That's hilarious.
