Chances?

Can list more on request- I know I wasn't exactly specific

Dream Schools( I know, super hard to get into and I know I have like 5% chance of getting in but we can still hope right?) :
Columbia
Princeton

Schools that are still very hard and I don't think I have that great of a chance:
Berkeley
USC
UCLA

I want to major in Political Science with a focus on International Relations or if I don't get into a good school, pre-med

Please tell me what my chances are!!

Oh, Sorry I took the Math II not the Math I.

And I basically took the most rigorous academic courseload available at my school but I have had quite a few A-.

Youve as good a chance as anyone. If i had your credentials, i would throw my name at every "top" school I could find because you would be accepted by at least one. But say you only apply to Princeton and Columbia as reach schools, its very possible you get rejected by both. In other words, your in the mix but who the hell knows. The slightly lower tier schools like Cal Berkeley and USC I would say around a coin toss.

So you think that I at least have a shot at some of the upper tier schools like Brown or Columbia?

I'm very worried that my extracurriculars aren't up to par-aside from your essay, it's hard to incorporate things like "raised 2,300 dollars for ..." or "organized a youth leadership forum" etc.

I did JV tennis for two years but I did not continue that; I also play the clarinet but not professionally or anything- I dabble in the arts but I have not pursued any of these activities. My real passion is creating change but I don't know how to convey that through those activity slots. AHHH Please tell me what my chances are!!!!!

I was also wondering- on the apps, you do not have to specify what ethnicity you are( right?) so I do not necessarily have to put myself down as an Asian applicant because I fear being linked to that would be detrimental to my chances- also, does going in with an International Relations major in anyway differentiate me from the hordes of other Asian applicants who are vying for medical/science-related/engineering/math-related majors? I've also been considering Middle Eastern Studies just so I could get a chance at my dream school and study in some manner what I really want to learn more about.

I think that your grades are good, and you've shown leadership and compassion with your volunteering. Your orgs and stuff are very impressive. The only thing I think that is truly hurting you is your lack of competitive ECs. More than enough people have good grades and lots of ECs. The thing is you have few competitive ECs which makes it hard for schools to see if your stronger than someone else. If you apply, emphasize your work...cause i feel that's the strong pnt of your application.

Well, I didn't mention a lot of the activities that most students have for fear of being redundant but I will mention them anyways.

-NHS, CSF, Math Honor Society
-Clubs: JSA, Key Club, Amnesty, Math, MUN
President of Key, treasurer/urgent action chair leader Amnesty, publicity off. for JSA
-President of Students Take Action! Committe- a council of students chosen to address student needs and concerns[ we've instilled recycling cans, a new water system that uses less energy, sold reusable water bottles[ not plastic] for the student body- basically, environmental issues were our theme this year
-Attended a number of leadership institutes/seminars and conferences; lobbied with US representatives on a number of issues both through normal advocacy at home( letters, hotline, etc.) and in person in Washington
- dance in part of dance troupe- for weddings, birthday events, and other extravaganzas
-and also a whole bunch of other trival things, positions, awards, etc.

you sound a lot like a GCC leader...hmmmm

Thank you, I think. What is a GCC leader?

Is it something I can still apply for or is it too late?

wow 7 languages? thats pretty amazing in itself. I think you have a good chance at UCLA, just based off people I know who got in there.
