Hey, I'm a high school Junior looking at Eckerd...
I have a 2.75 uw, 3.45 w currently, but i can bring it up to about a 3.0 plus a 3.8 w or so before or very early in my Senior year
I'm in the IB program
I've taken pretty much all the AP/IB courses I could take.
I havent taken the SAT/ACT/subject tests yet, but I'm very confident I'll do well.
I'm an active writer, was on the high school newspaper, and started my own satirical school newspaper as well. I think my essays, extracurriculars, and recommendations, will be particulary strong and I think my Senior will be my best academically, but whats really weighing me down is my gpa, though i think i can justify it in my essay, seeing that high school for me was pointless busy work, which i tended to avoid...I'm very motivated to pursue a career in writing...
I also live in Miami,Hispanic male if that helps

Eckered is a wonderful school from my research and they offer rolling admissions, which will help you to figure this out very early in the game next year. I have read and heard that they don't play the "dirty secret" numbers game like most other schools...so it is more difficult to "chance" a student. I truly believe that they look at the entire application. Our experience with the admissions office is that they go way out of their way to help you discover if you are a good fit for their school. I would stronly suggest a visit...since you are in-state. Good luck with the SAT/ACTs!

PS: I believe that Eckerd's student body is about 25% in-state students. You might ask them if that is a "limit" for them or just the way the numbers fall...For an out of stater, that statistic qualms concerns that this is a commuter campus.
