chances???

What are my chances of getting in? I am a senior, and an American. I haven't heard, so I started to get nervous. My stats are:
GPA: 3.04
AP's: Modern European History, Lang &Comp, and French (all this year)
SAT: 1830 CR-620 W-620 M-590
SAT 2: US Hist-550, Math 1-550, Lit 650
I also have letters of reccomendation, and many extra curriculers

Why are you bothering putting up a chances thread about UofT? They accept just about everyone. Mind you it’s a fantastic University… it’s just that their acceptance rate is through the roof. I think it’s around 90%…

Hpfan018, U of T nowhere accepts 90% of applicants. Actually with 3.04 Sawsy’s in for a bit of a fight. Generally, at U of T you are looking at a B+ average in the social and life sciences and A minus in business or maths. As for engineering and other professional faculties you are looking at a solid A or A plus high school average. That said, I understand your point: once you achieve those grades it’s pretty much automatic acceptance. But that’s the same at any Canadian university including McGill and Queen’s and UBC. Staying in those is the hard part.

Sawsy, your SAt’s may also pose a bit of problem:

“Note: In the past successful applicants have presented scores of at least 600 in each SAT component and 26 in the ACT. Some programs require higher scores.”

You had some SAT’s scores in the 500’s. The recs won’t help much and EC’s not at all. Canadian schools don’t look at EC’s. However, being an American applicant may help, because as much as U of T won’t admit it, they do “reserve” seats for internationals. Please let us know what happens.

I’m not sure what the exact acceptance rate is, but it’s pretty high. I haven’t met a single person who applied to UofT and got rejected. Many people I know with mediocre grades have got in. One of my classmates is currently studying architecture there and she had the equivalent of a C average. Others studying life sciences had B- averages and were accepted. The only other explanation I have is that they judge our education system differently to the American/Canadian one.
