I am looking to major in business but since that doesn't matter for applicants it doesnt matter on this form. Chance me!!!

oh and class rank wasn’t too savvy when we got our rank last summer (116). About 1/3 with a 93.33, now I should be just at 25%

Sorry to say, but UNC pretty much takes top 1%-5% for out of state applicants. It does not hurt to try, but apply with the attitude of not getting in, so if you do it’s a huge reward, but if not, then you knew it was real long shot and you won’t be upset.

^
Agreed.

OOS applicants need to be in the top 25th percentile in regards to GPA and test scores to be competitive.

my sister was accepted even though she was not in top 10%, albiet her GPA was higher, my test scores are higher than hers though…

It’s definitely worth a shot…superscored, your SAT is pretty good. Just try to bring up your GPA, although it is an A…do you attend a really competitive high school? Seems like your rank should be higher.

yeah the high school, although public, is very very competative. UT likes our high school in texas, at least 13 people attend each year

^I wish I still lived in Texas…I really wanna go to UT…

Being a URM and having your sister there will give you a bump in admissions but hard to say how much of one. You are also aided by being male since the m/f ratio is 40/60.

My advice is make your essays really strong and make sure your LORs are equally strong.

Good luck!

Agree with eadad…focus on the essay.

My d is a senior at UNC (Houston) and though she was a NMF, was barely top ten percent because AP coursework does not received extra weighting in our district . She had an extremely strong courseload similar to yours. Rank will be considered in the context of coursework quality, so don’t make an automatic presumption that yours is too low.
