chances?

I'd really appreciate if some people would chance me for Mudd. It's my top choice, but I'm a n00b and I didn't get what ED2 was when I applied.

And...I've been put on probation twice, Freshman year and Sophomore
year. Middle of Freshman year for fighting, middle of Sophomore year
for accumulated concerns, no fighting, just not getting along with some
kids in the dorm. And singing too loud in the hallways. IGot my ****
together, though, and I wrote in the statements that I just learned to
be more considerate as I matured..

My essays, I think are pretty good. I kind of screwed up the Why Mudd one though, I put in one sentence that just completely screwed up the tense and just sounded stupid. But the other two, I wrote about an idea I had for an alternative structure of an amplifier. The other one was about guitar and the importance of music in my life.

Courses look great… so does everything else… I’d be a little worried about the GPA… that would stop you from getting in before the 700 in Physics… Is it just that your school is really competative? I think you’d need to explain that somehow…

The probabtion thing probably won’t look good, but if you wrote a convincing statement as to how you’ve changed and grown from that experience, you might be okay.

I guess you could say it’s competitive. It’s a boarding school, so of course it’s harder than the average public school. My schedule is the hardest in the school in terms of course rigor.

Your GPA is the only thing that could potentially be a problem. It’s good that you have that upward trend though. That will definitely help. And don’t worry too much about the 700 in Physics. It’s not bad. I got a 690 and was accepted. Subject tests aren’t a huge factor. I think you have a good chance! Let us know when you hear!

Did you write about how competitive your school is? Did you do an interview or a MYCOLLEGEi interview? If not, I think it’s very important that you express these things in your essays.

I agree with the GPA, but GPA isn’t everything. I have the same SAT score as you and even that is at the lower end of the spectrum… I’d say you have a pretty good chance, but who knows! Your AP scores are nice but they won’t get you anything…

I also sent in a music supplement but they haven’t said anything to me about that, I don’t think they will.

BTW, your math background scares me.

Thanks everyone!

minz, I didn’t do a MYCOLLEGEi interview. There were a couple reasons for this, but I’ll just leave it at that. My probation statement kind of answered the question about beliefs being challenged.

As for the competitiveness of my school, I didn’t really know where to mention it. I’m kind of hoping my counselor said something in her rec.

Well ilikecollage, you’ll find out soon! Good luck!!
