Essay Fodder: Mid way through sophmore year In Ap Enviro, I was talking w my senior friend and he told me about his situation and It movitated me to get good grades, that was a turning point in my academic career, but that year in feburary, i got a terrible concussion in a skiing accident in colorado which kind of destroyed my would be 5 out of 7 A's for that semester. I go on aventure vacations like climbing mt rainier and mission trips to mexico city n such. I seem like typical mudd student (I was looking on website of discription of mudders, and it stated that mudders are huge fans of wikipedia, that was an aha moment where i realized that i love mudd because i spend about 20 min a day just gaining knowledge from wikipedia)
Other Things (BS) Considered: White male
Suburb of Chicago
Middle/upper class
THE ULTIMATE REC LETTER from my chem teacher, she loves me, and I did extraordinarily well in her class. Also good rec from my apush teacher
If we have an interviewer, I will destroy the interview (in a good way)</p>

<p>Thanks for your input</p>

<p>A perfect 36 on the science test... I've never seen that before.</p>

<p>You've certainly got a chance but I'd watch those humanities grades. Easier said than done, but shoot for a 4.0 UW this semester and next semester - it'll help out your GPA a bit and show an upward trend. Next year will be the hardest year in admissions history, a bit harder than this year even.</p>

<p>That means you'll need great essays to get in here :) Fortunately, Mudd isn't the "let's see if I can get in / name brand / bragging" school, which means that the admissions rate is much more reasonable. Then again, the applicant pool is much more self-selective than some other colleges.</p>

<p>Mudd's curriculum is about 35% humanities so your scores in English and History worry me. I'd tell you to improve Spanish, but I got straight B's in that subject except for 1st semester junior year -.- In any case, keep up your history and English scores. You'll get by with B's in one subject but probably not if they continue across the board in humanities.</p>

<p>Haha, every1 uses Wiki these days despite the frequent number of inaccuracies present.</p>

<p>you'll definitely have a better chance if you raise your grades, but those were my grades (I had a GPA of 3.5, got a C+ in French sophomore year) and I got in! Although I also demonstrated a massive interest in science and math, as well as decent writing skills.</p>

<p>Mudd is by no means easy to get into - I'd say only a bit easier than a least selective ivy. HM has a, I believe 25% accept rate, but because the people
who apply are generally competitive, it is actually one of the harder clairmont schools do get into. It is the type of school that may pick apart
your Cs, or love your work experience + science savvy. We don't know, all we can say is you would be competitive...</p>

<p>"Mudd is by no means easy to get into - I'd say only a bit easier than a least selective ivy."</p>

<p>I disagree, I think that Brown, Cornell and Dartmouth are slightly easier to get into than HMC. I think we are about as selective as Columbia or Penn, and a bit less selective than Harvard, Yale or Princeton.</p>

<p>However, 'selectivity' does not correspond to 'quality' - keep that in mind. A lot of other variables are also at play - like how well the school fits you. You can get a great education at a lot of places.</p>
