I really don't think you have much of a chance. Your GPA and SAT scores are well below average. Even a higher SAT won't do that much because of the low GPA. I know you have improved it....was it bad because of family trouble or another kind of adversity?

I had some friends who werent the best and they influenced me to slack off, other than that i just didnt have the drive to succeed as much and I didnt realize the "value of an education". But this really sucks...if i were an admissions officer i would disregard the other bad years of the applicant if i saw recent improvement like that of mine.

An admissions officer cannot just relegate one or two bad years in high school. What about those applying who received good grades consistently and were always determined to succeed? Their histories show that they are more dedicated to studies and better candidates for USC. The upward trend in your gpa is good and you should be proud. However, if I were an admissions officer I would pick every person with consistently good grades before you. Why? Because they deserve it more.

Now....if you can get your SAT to over 2200 and then write an essay about how you were influenced negatively and overcame that influence I am sold and you are in. Why? Because it shows firsthand that you are intellectually capable (proof from the higher sat score you need) and secondly you have shown that you are much more driven now. So talk after you get that score up and maintain your gpa. Have a good semester. USC will collect the mid-year reports and want to see superlative grades.

*I was the opposite of you. I had perfect grades from high school, a university, and a junior college. My ECs were very good too. My SAT, however, was a sham. The first score was a 980. I got it to an 1130 and just said to myself, "the adcom will see my college grades and let me in from that. Sod the SAT." It worked out for USC but not for Brown and Georgetown. In retrospect, I spent no time preparing for the SAT and I should have. I could have had more options. You need to do well on the SAT. Don't make the mistake I made. STUDY STUDY STUDY for it and kick it's arse. Okay, good luck future-Trojan :)

Thanks...now time to go study for the SAT hehe :)

Yeah, you have some major cramming ahead of you. Not to mention all the other apps you have to fill out. Good luck.

Are you seventh day adventist????
because thats all im thinkin when i hear the word pathfinders

mmmm i dont know wat that is but Im a Baptist. Whats sda? Sorry but i dont know the lingo Im fairly new to the club and I dont go to church as often as i should :(

SDA = Seventh Day Adventist

didn't SDA try to predict the rapture several times but it allways failed? hmmm

Pathfinders is the only christian club at my school. I think its just a group where any christian who wants to join can.
