Chancing an OOS Student

Hey everyone!

I'm a white female from CA and I was just wondering if you could give me an opinion on my chances of getting into UMich. I just sent in my application on January 4th, and they received it the next day.

GPA: 4.4 weighted, 4.1 unweighted (I think, I know I have a 4.4 right now)
ACT: 22 (I know, low...)
My essays were pretty original and I thought they were well written if nothing else.
Competitive dancer, participant in drama/theater, founded a recycling program and a service club, California Scholarship Federation life time member, etc.

I'm out of state so I'm hoping that will help. I applied undecided to LSA. From what I've been reading it seems like applying "late" isn't going to help. Any opinions?

Reach .:(

Thanks, kind words.

4.1 unweighted?
How does that work?

applying late is going to hurt huge. especially if you’re already OOS and with a low ACT. I’d say <10% chance unless you have some great hooks, URM maybe?

also UMich usually does GPA out of 4.0, so if you have a 4.1, then you’re gonna stump them lol. Don’t see how they can reject somebody who can defy the laws of numbers.

some schools give you a higher unweighted GPA if you have an A+ (as in, higher than 4.0) so Umichigan most likely has seen this kind of stuff before.

From the ACT I’m guessing that’s a 5 point scale GPA?

My opinion is that you shouldn’t have bothered paying the application fee… Not to be mean but seriously, a 22? According to the ACT you’re not ready for college, and would have to take remedial classes if you were to go to college.

Reach, sorry. Your GPA is impressive, but you’re applying super late and your ACT is going to kill you. How rigorous was your curriculum?
