I'm curious what the process of changing majors after transferring will look like. I have read similar threads about this topic, but was hoping someone had some more specific information.

Particularly, if one were to sign a TAG with UC Davis for Psychology (a major with relatively few prerequisites), would they be able to change to a major within the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences or the College of Biological Sciences after admission? This would be despite the fact of not having all of the necessary prerequisites (Physics, Ochem) completed. Would the university accept the fact that the student would need to spend time in their first year taking lower division classes?

How do you think this would the effect the duration of their studies? Would summer classes be able to insure graduating on time? Is it uncommon to spend an extra semester or even a year after this type of move?

The statement of the school is as follows:

"UCD: Students may change majors after they are enrolled for one quarter. For most majors, this change is relatively easy. However, selective majors, such as those in the College of Engineering, have criteria that students must meet before they are allowed into the programs. There is no guarantee that a student can change to a selective major. Students should consult the “Academic Information” section of the UC Davis General Catalog (registrar.ucdavis.edu/UCDWebCatalog) for specific information about changing majors."

I'm wondering if a TAG would change this policy and if the science prereqs could be completed at Davis. I understand that ultimately the solution would be to stay at a CC to complete these courses but for the sake of interest, does anyone have any experience with this type of process?

Thanks!
