I am international student and applied physics in UW's main campus. If I am admitted, can I change my major into engineering? Actually I got only 1810 in SAT and 800 separately in two SAT Subject Tests(Physics and Mathematics Level 2), which, I think, are not competitive enough to get admission by applying engineering. However, my friend who studying in UW told me that it is not that difficult to change major after enrolling to UW and meeting minimum requirements is all I need. Is that so simple?

No, it’s not. It is for some majors, but every engineering major is competitive, which means that more students want to do the major than there are places available. If you want to be admitted to an engineering major, you have to do very well in the prerequisite subjects, and the best students who apply for admission to the major will be accepted, until there are no more places left. It is not simply a matter of “complete x, y and z subjects, then apply and you will be accepted” if you are looking to do engineering at UW.
