Change of College

Hello!

I'm interesting in changing from L&S to engineering, but I know the chances are slim and it requires a very high GPA. I was wondering if anyone has any more statistical data. If anyone did make the switch, what were the classes you took and what was your GPA by the time you declared? My interests lies with the biological science and with EE. I know that those are two very different subjects so I'd like to hear what some people have to say about the difficulty and what my actual chances are of switching in engineering. thanks!

Are you a current student or someone thinking of applying?

i'm currently an Fall extension student in L&S.

Why do you want to transfer? Why don't you just do a CS major in L&S or some type of biology major? Why do you want an engineering degree?

Well, honestly I've been reading a lot about majors since it's the time to pick spring semester classes. I started reading about engineering and the stuff on it really excited me. The career prospects are also very attractive. If I were to do MCB and decide not to go for a health career, I don't think I will want to do lab work all the time.

I'm going to go to the career center to find out more information but that's my reason. I'm interested in the subject.

Well, the thing about engineering is that it has very difficult courses and heavy courseloads. So you have to be realistic with yourself if you can handle that kind of work. You'd need to do extremely well in those courses in order to transfer into the college of engineering. So even if it sounds great to be an engineer, becoming one is difficult. Certainly, I don't see any reason to try for EECS when you can do a Computer Science major in L&S.
