In my social psychology class, I received an incomplete. I knew I was going to finish the course so I put an "A" on my college application, and now that I've finished, I recieved a "B" out of shock because I totally thought that I did "A" work.

How do I tell this to the college campuses? Does it affect my admission? My gpa is a 3.9 even with the "B", but does it look bad for changing my grade a to a lower grade as opposed to how most people change their grades to higher grades?

I'm wondering (curious) why you put a grade on the application for something you had received no grade in (as of the time applications were due) instead of an IP.

I don't think that you're supposed to put in grades for the Fall 2008 semester on the UC application that you turned in last month. Since no one is supposed to presume any type of grade (for the precise predicament that you are in), everyone is required to submit their fall grades in January. I'm guessing that when you do that update, you will override the A-grade that you estimated.

yea, I made a mistake, but the professor was the one who told me that I pretty much have an A, and then he gave me a B ....This is for the Winter term of last year. ( a changed grade for an incomplete)

Okay, well if he assured you that "[you] pretty much [had] an A" I would try e-mailing him or contacting him to ask why it's a B now. I hassled one of my prof's for weeks on weeks and he finally changed my grade from a C to an A.

If the B is warranted, just change it when you have to update your application; it's not going to make a humongous difference unless it's part of your major, which, I take, it's not. A 3.9 is a great GPA. A few B's won't kill your chances anywhere (unless you're going to Haas).
