Changes at Princeton ED (international)

Yo.
Asian, international. From a poor family.
I'm graduating early and have applied to Princeton ED/EA, whatever.

Sex: Female
GPA: 4.0 UW
Rank: ~1/500 (in not class of 08 -my real class-but in class of 07)
Competitiveness: Two of the top ten are realllly awesome and one will probably matriculate at Harvard (legacy & money) and the other, U of Chicago (lacrosse coach likes her). But otherwise, not really; lots of gangs, lots of people killing one another.
Family: >20,000/year (this year, my dad's laid off, so no money. i reflected this in essay topic #1)

Scores are on the bad side:
SAT I: 770CR, 750M, 740W 9 Essay(one sitting)
740CR, 720M, 700W 11 Essay (another sitting)
SAT II: 800(M.II), 750Bio-M, 720USHIST, 690Physics, 660Chemistry
Retaking Physics & taking Literature Nov.

ACT: 33, 11 essay (took it once and all at one sitting)

AP Exams:
AP Bio - 5
AP English Lang - 5
AP Calculus BC - 5(5)
AP Environment Science - 5
AP Physics B - 4

Taking this year,

AP Spanish V (Literature)
AP English Literature
AP European History
AP Physics C
Calculus III/Differential Eqnts at University
Anatomy

Applying possibly under (ironically) Chemistry or Biochemistry, but dunno seeing how bad my scores are...Maybe even math (har har)

ECs:
Alumni of a prestigious summer program
AP Scholar with Distinction (one short of getting National, I guess, dunno)
Audited Calculus Courses
Statewide Mathematics Contest 5th place (11)
Physics Olympiad (11)
Regional Math Contest 2nd place (11)
Statewide Essay Contest Semi-Finalist (11)

Volunteer at Hosipital, Soup Kitchen, and battered women's shelter.

President of Key Club, Physics Club, and Math Club.
Vice-President of NHS, treasurer of Art Club.
Varsity Swimming.

Decent essays about being a doctor & difficulties financially. decent recs from teachers who know me well.
Will it help at all that I'm younger & poorer than my competitors? the fact that i'm asian will hurt, i know.

Also applying to:
Caltech
U of Chicago
Columbia
Stanford
JHU
Wash U
Rice
Olin
and just maybe UPenn/Yale/UMich

With safeties, of course.
Matches? Reaches? Huge reaches?

What do you think? T_T Thanks

try to improve your sat2 scores...otherwise your resume looks excellent....
since harvard, penn, yale and p'ton(not sure) are need blind, you have an 80% chance of getting in provided ur essay is good. SAT 1 is excellent. Also, caltech gives a lot of aid...so u might just get in...if i were you, i would apply to all the need blind schools. do a bit of research. good luck!

Penn isn't need-blind for international

only Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT

Umich - You're in. "Safety," I guess.

any more comments?
bummmmmmmmmmmmmmp

umich doesnt offer aid internationally, so u hv to count on scholarship, which brings it up to a match

The fact that you're asian won't hurt much at Olin! We are still mostly white, though we are working on that I think. I think Olin is always a reach because its so selective but Olin will really like your passion for math and science as well as your volunteer work. However, if you don't at least want to major in engineering (regardless if you want to be an engineer once you graduate) it will probably come through in the essays or interviews (if you make it to candidate's weekend). I don't think being younger or poorer will really help or hurt getting into Olin. We seem to have a couple of kids that skip a grade in each class and we always have a huge mix of income levels. For Olin it's all about showing you have passions for both engineering and non-engineering. Hope this helps!

That's a very, very generous figure. Nothing about those statistics or activities really pops out. I'd say ~20-25% at HYP and ~40% at Penn.
