changing app from regular to ed

So this may be a lazy question that i could probably figure out myself but..

if i submit a regular decision application but end up changing my mind and want to go ED, can i just go on the common app website and change it before the deadline?

if so, how do i go about doing it?

Thanks. trying to plan for every possible situation..

Once you’ve hit submit on the common app it’s locked. No changes. So don’t submit until you’re absolutely sure :)

okay. phew…so ill wait to submit until after the fly in (if i am accepted).

You can call the college and change from RD to ED before the deadline.

hmom got me. Technically you could do that. However, I’d say it would be more trouble than it’s worth to go through that. In this instance I’d just wait it out and submit when you’re sure.

Kids do it all the time. It’s one call and a faxed contract. Often your counselor will make the call and handle the paperwork.

There is a good reason to get your app in early. Adcom have much more time in the early weeks and you get a closer read.

And kids, while a few schools are moving towards only receiving electronic applications, high priced private counselors will tell you to not submit electronically. There are many advantages to sending a packet by mail.

What are the advantages, hmom5?

yes, im curious as well. i guess it isn’t too late to do that.

I don’t want to put them all out of business, but for example, can you fit all the info you would like to about your ECs in the few lines given on the common app?

As a side note on the EC thing. If you do decide to submit common app online, you can always use the “Additional Info” area to expand EC’s etc… That’s what I did. At Dartmouth’s suggestion actually.

I guess that makes some sense, but as spunaugle said, the additional info. section seems to take care of that concern.
