Hi,

I applied to the Berkeley School of Engineering for 2016 entry. If I get accepted, how difficult will it be for me to switch to the Haas Business School or even the College of Letters & Science?

I have sort of lost interest in Engineering but really want to pursue Business/Economics at Berkeley and do engineering later on in my career if need be.

Thank you for your help!

Switching to L&S is generally not considered difficult, although you have to apply to do so as described [here.

However, to switch to Business, you must apply to do so after completing the prerequisites, generally in your sophomore year while enrolled in one of the other divisions. See here.

Some majors in L&S also require applying to declare (the capped majors listed here](http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/registration/changeofcollege.html)). Economics is one such major.

Doing engineering later after majoring in business or economics is likely to require a complete second bachelor’s degree, since most business and economics majors will not take even the freshman and sophomore level courses needed for an engineering major, much less graduate school. The reverse is not the case; MBA programs do not require any specific undergraduate major, while economics graduate school prerequisites are mostly math with some economics.
