I’m an ED2 applicant to Wellesley 2025. I absolutely LOVE Wellesley and it is my top choice school. However, I’m an international student (Chinese) and I’m stuck in the UK for school. The UK at the moment is all in lockdown and everything sucks, nor can I get a flight back to China with this COVID situation. I have a terrible feeling that this might last a couple of months and with all those quarantine stuffs after getting back to China in the summer and potentially going off to the States in September, I’m not sure how likely that will happen. (Alongside the concerns of what happened in DC Washington last week…). I do NOT want to take a gap year nor do my parents want to risk now (when I handed in ED2 things weren’t so bad in England plus Biden seemed fine) and it worse things happen, they might want me to go to English programs in Japan/HKU (I do not want to end up there).
With all the situation above, I’m just concerned that a binding situation, not that I don’t want to attend, may cause ultimate difficulty for the family if situations are bad for international students (the time difference between China and the States is 12/13hrs depending on summer winter time and Zoom University with full tuition paid by international students is just crap). I’m not sure how accepting Wellesley will be with this explanation (I had fantastic time attending their talks and communicating via email) and whether swapping to RD might me an automatic rejection. I will try to reiterate the fact that Wellesley remains my top choice yet I can’t afford binding it now as an international student…
