Changing High School Counselor

How to do it? We have a counselor who is very unprofessional. We feel she is not going to help but rather be a hurdle in my high school life.

We have a somewhat similar issue. I was essentially my older daughter’s college counselor, a lot of stress etc. Also silly because it is a Private Catholic HS. Anyways, we are likely going to hire a college counselor. Costs some money but probably worth it. I can make more money with the extra time and will save nagging/stress etc.
You could interview a few and see if there is one you like.

Oh the counselor would be for my younger daughter, HS JR now.

Depends on the school. Is this public or private, small or large? Is there a chair or manager of the counseling department? Some are very strict that you cannot switch. Some allow it if you go to leadership with a good explanation for your request. “Unprofessional” can mean a lot of different things. What was it in your case? If she’s taking 3 days to answer emails or putting her feet on her desk, the administration is unlikely to bend rules over that. If she called you a racial slur or propositioned a student, that’s an urgent crisis. If it’s in between…give us more info, and maybe we can help.
